General Information:
The singing masterclass Under the Direction of Leontina Vatuva will accept 10 active and 5 passive participants. The candidates willing to participate to the masterclass should mention in the application form whether they wish to be active or passive.
The masterclass will begin on the 21st of July 2008 in the morning. The participants are kindly asked to arrive in Ayvalik one day before, i.e. 20th of July. The night of the 20th of July is included to the fee. The masterclass will end on the 28th of July in the afternoon, the participants should leave the academy on the 28th of July in the evening. the night of the 28th of July is not included to the fee.
Active Participants should send the complete documents required until 20 June 2008. The documents will be examined and the definitive participants will be declared via email. Definitive participants should pay the 100Euros registration fee to the bank account mentioned until 30 June 2008.
The remaining 300Euros application fee should be paid to the bank account mentioned until 11 July 2008. This fee includes accommodation and breakfast. The active participants will be accommodated in Ayvalık Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı Haluk Barutçuoğlu House Ayvalık Music Center. The classes will be held in Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı Haluk Barutçuoğlu House Ayvalık Music Center.
Passive Participants should send their application form with the required documents and pay the 100Euros registration fee to the bank account mentioned, and send the complete documents required until 20 June 2008. This fee does not include accommodation and breakfast. The place and expenses of accommodation for Passive participants will be at their own responsibility.

Leontina Vaduva
Leontina Vaduva, French soprano of Romanian origin who is an unforgettable performer of roles such as Manon, Mimi, Juliette, Marguerite and Susanna will be in Ayvalik in August 2008.
Since her debut on the stage of the Toulouse Opera House, in 1987, her rise to success was meteoric: she was acclaimed successively at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (1988), at Vienna Staatsoper (1991) and again at Covent Garden in 1994. This followed with her American debut with San Francisco Opera in 1996, adding to the series of her performances on the stages of Munich, Paris, Brussels, Barcelona, the Scala of Milano and the New York’s Metropolitan Opera. Her debut at the Metropolitan, in 2000, was in the role of Mimi in La Boheme. This was followed by the Los Angeles Opera (Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust), in the year 2000 and and again at the opera in Baltimore in 2001.
1986 she sang her first Manon (Massenet) under the direction of Michel Plasson at the Théâtre du Capitôle - Toulouse. The protagonist of Massenet became her favorite role that she than sang in Nice, London – Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Paris – Opéra Comique and Bastille, Vienna –Staatsoper, Tokyo- New National Theatre and Scala di Milano.
In 1995 she made her debut recording for EMI Classics, of Mimì in Puccini's La Bohème. The recording features a formidable cast of international opera stars: Roberto Alagna as Rodolfo, Thomas Hampson as Marcello, Simon Keelyside as Schaunard, Samuel Ramey as Colline and Ruth Ann Swenson as Musetta. The Philharmonia Orchestra is conducted by Antonio Pappano. Her latest release for EMI Classics is a recital disc of opera arias, conducted by Placido Domingo.
